- The Beast of Bryn Race is now under new management -
We are delighted to be hosting the Beast of Bryn 2024 (Bwystfil Y Bryn) This race was first established by BRAG (Bryn Residents Action Group) in 2011 and quickly grew in size and reputation. It was put on hold for a few years then re-started in 2022 as the Covid-19 restrictions eased. At this point, the management of the event was outsourced to Run Afan but for 2024, this has been brought back in-house and will once again be fully managed by BRAG.
BRYN RESIDENTS ACTION GROUP (BRAG) is a voluntary group supporting the village of Bryn, located on the B4282 between Cwmavon and Maesteg. Primarily a agricultural area its coal reserves changed it into a typical mining village with the advent of the industrial revolution. Since mining ceased it has reverted in the greatest part back to its farming roots. It is now a developing rural village that is a very pleasant place to live and play due to its location in the Margam Mountains and surrounding Afon forest. Being close to the M4 it has easy access to all major towns and cities in South Wales. It has become a very popular place to live whilst retaining its village atmosphere.
As well as organizing events, it supports groups in the village such as the historical society and local school and promotes projects aimed at making Bryn “A nice place to be”. All residents are welcome to attend the village meetings and have a say on what is happening in their community. Its also a chance to meet the police, local Councilors and the BRAG members.
This Race has been well established within the community and is now back under BRAG management. The charity keeps an achieve hosting not just race history, but other articles about the local community. Visit https://brynporttalbot.wordpress.com/beast-of-bryn/ to find out more.
